When you're just building a company it's important to get it right the first time. The smart money is on the best people and the best team.

So you've built a better mousetrap. How do you ensure that the world beats a path to your door? Today, you must have more than a great product and solid business plan to turn investors' heads. It's the people behind your product that will drive your success. You must have in place the best possible management team to reach your goals. First and foremost, every member of your start-up team must be a believer. Of equal importance, you must have a leader accountable for the success – and the failure – of the company, an expert bringing your product to market and a pioneer to lead your sales initiatives.

Making certain each team member believes in your product and has invested significant time and resources in the business will be a key driver to building a thriving start-up. Too many entrepreneurs surround themselves with a handful of relatives, close friends, or even interim consultants that only dedicate part-time work to the business. Instead, form a full-time committed team that possesses both industry and sales expertise.
