This can happen when your site is well optimized for the search engines but NOT well optimized for conversion – that is, turning visitors into customers.
While there are many factors that go into conversion optimization for your site, here are 3 basics that you MUST ensure happen on your site to convert visitors into buyers:
1. Make sure your sales copy is as strong as it can be. You have about 8 seconds to convince a prospect that you have what they are looking for. You must tell your visitors what you do, who you do it for and why they should buy from you in the most compelling language possible.
2. Where your messages are placed on your site is critical. Don't make your prospects hunt for what they are looking for. Keep important information "above the fold" and test the design of your site to ensure it is readable on all browsers and screen resolutions.
3. Structure your site's navigation so that it's easy to use. Your links should be located in a consistent spot on all of your web pages, with a clear path back to the home page. Contact information, shipping, delivery and payment policies should all be in an easy-to-find location on every page. Keep user-friendliness in mind on every page of your site.
Taking these steps builds trust with your prospects and will increase the amount of visitors who become your customers. For more information, check out my article, "You're Not After Clicks – you're After Sales!" at:
