Benison International Group works with entrepreneurs to help them get appropriate financial advice, services and fair investment contracts to ensure success.
According to a recent report from the Federal Trade Commission, the total amount of fraud complaints increased from 65% in 2005 to 85% in 2006.1 With more thieves ready to take advantage of the growing, small business population, new entrepreneurs need to be more careful than ever before when obtaining investments to fund their business goals.
At Benison International Group, experienced experts act as intermediaries for novice entrepreneurs. They help to ensure that these entrepreneurs receive fair and appropriate financial terms and investments when starting and growing their new businesses.
After receiving an Army Expeditionary Medal while in the armed forces and the Silver Star Medal for Bravery from the American Police Hall of Fame, Michael Lara spent seven years on Wall Street as an investment banker. But in 1997, he wanted a change. With some friends, he helped to form Benison International Group. Their sole purpose was to give back to the community and help others rather than focus on the profit issue alone.
Today, 25% of all company profits go back into the local community and Michael uses his unique training and experience to help business customers get the services, tools, equipment, and consulting they need quickly and cost-effectively.
We asked Michael to share his experiences with American Venture Magazine.
What is your experience in working with investors and negotiating with them for small business owners?
As CEO for Benison International, I work as a consultant for our clients and as an investor in the investment banking arena. In the past, I have worked with Prudential Securities, as a Quantum Portfolio Manager and Financial Advisor, World Trust Services as an Offshore Trust Specialist and Emerging Markets Specialist and A&M Capital as a Senior Vice-President of Venture Capital and Angel Investors.
It is very helpful to use my experience as both an investor and a small business owner, to develop fair and cost-effective solutions for both sides of the negotiating table...
